Sheyi Ojo is now in the midst of his fifth loan spell away from Liverpool.
The 22-year-old has previously spent time at Wigan, Fulham, Wolves and Stade Reims, yet has returned to Anfield after the end of each campaign. Now, he is on loan at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.
It has been a promising season so far for the Gers. They are currently six points behind Celtic in the table, but do have a game in hand, meaning they are giving the Bhoys their first real run for their money in recent memory, whilst they also qualified for the knockout rounds of the Europa League too. Steven Gerrard, who has used his contacts at Liverpool and in the Premier League to bring in the likes of Ryan Kent, Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, is doing a very good job.

Ojo got the season off to a great start. He scored three goals and provided two assists during qualifying for that European competition, and also managed a goal and two assists in his first four league appearances. However, since September 1st, he has managed just one goal and three assists in all competitions and has not started in the Scottish top flight since October.
In fact, he has never really set the world alight during any of his spells away from Anfield. The second-most goals he has managed in one campaign – this term is his most productive – was just four, which came at Fulham last season. He has previously been compared to Raheem Sterling, but his trajectory has been nothing like the current Manchester City winger’s.

The time has come for Liverpool and Ojo to part ways. In 2018, he said he wanted to play an important role for the Reds, but with each passing season that possibility just looks further and further away. At 22, he needs to find a settled home rather than being shipped out somewhere new every 12 months. Should he do that, he may just be able to match some of that undoubted potential.
Meanwhile, one Liverpool man will have loved Dejan Lovren’s poor performance against Shrewsbury.
